Latika Johnson is the Coordinator of African American Affairs in the Office of Multicultural Affairs (OMA). She received her bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies with emphases in health, leadership and disaster preparedness and emergency management from Arkansas State University and her master’s degree in college student personnel services and administration from the Universtiy of Central Arkansas.

As an undergraduate, Latika’s academic research interests lead her to the field of student affairs as a gateway to a professional career where she can impact students’ leadership and professional development, campus and social engagement, and their personal growth. Today, her research interests include multicultural/Black/African American cultural centers and their a/effect on African American students’ retention rates, campus engagement and persistence to graduation. Latika believes her research interests are applicable and essential to her position and her career goals. In addition, Latika believes in striving for significance (impact) rather than success (quantity) in regards to building relationships with students. She considers impactful relationships invaluable and necessary in order to effectively be of service to students.

Latika is devoted to diversity and inclusion in all aspects of academia and supports, connects and provides opportunities for OSU students, faculty and staff to become versed in diverse perspectives, experiences, and cultures.
